CyberSafe and Savvy Tip 7: Unplugged Sunday

When was the last time you were completely unplugged, even for an  hour? Well, today is your day to give it a try…because if you’re reading this post, you are definitely not unplugged, and it’s a weekend!

Our lives are way too digital. We are constantly “on”…checking our smartphones, texting, updating our social media sites. The digital world was alluring enough when we just had laptops but now with our 24/7 grab and go culture of mobile technology we never, ever get away from it. The thing is, we need to get away from it because our lives are actually offline and not digital. It’s hard to remember that at times but that’s the reality we have trouble remember.

So, today, unplug. Turn off your computeres and cell phones and just go for a walk, read a book, cook something from scratch. Or,perhaps dust off a hobby you’ve put on hold. If you have kids, today is a great day to connect with them – truly connect, being in the same room with everyone on technology doesn’t count!

Unplugging seems odd at first and very unfamiliar but once you get used to it, the benefits will be so powerful, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do more unplugging sooner.
