Questions About Me™

Kidz Zone

computer_surfingHi!

Welcome to Kidz Zone, a place for teens and tweens like yourself to find cool web sites for fun and learning that are also safe.

The internet is likely one of the coolest places around - one of the only places in existance where you can virtually experience just about any topic imaginable and get infomration about that topic. Studying Africa? Put together a picture safari. Learning about US history? Use the net to find information and pictures to add to your report. And, the internet can help you learn about your body and help keep you in shape. As you might imagine, those are among my most favorite uses!

The intenet also can be a slippery slope and be dangerous at times for kids. So, you have to be careful what websites you spend time on. This is where your parents come in - and also where I'm hoping to help. All the sites on KidzZone have my stamp of approval for giving the age-appropriate information and being as safe as I'm able to confirm they are. Let me tell you what I do with my kids - especially my tween. We check out each website she wants to spend time on together. That way, I know how she is spending her time and she knows that site is safe for her. You should do the same with your parents, including with the sites on this list!

The parent in me needs to remind you of a really important safety issue. Never give personal information out online. If any site asks for information, get your parents and have them look into the details. One way you can be sure sites are safe are to stick with major names and sites that have gone the extra step to be safe sites. You'll notice such a banner on my home page.

Have fun surfing - but watch the time! There's an entire real outside to explore as well! And, as much fun as the virtual world is, the real world is even more fun - and is where your body needs to move about to stay active and healthy!

Cheers!

Dr. Gwenn
